Default 2003 RAM AC Condensor fan question

So I noticed if the engine is running I switch to defrost the AC condensor fan comes on (I know the AC is turning on)...if I remove from defrost it stays on - so the fan runs all the time. Now if I shut the truck off and start it again (not on defrost) it is off. Seems like it only turns on as normal, just wont turn off until power is cut (i.e. shutting engine off). Do I have a faulty switch?

Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like it is fine to me but maybe the system uses a latching relay where once powered on it doesnt turn off until power is removed. Either way, as long as it works, I dont see an issue.

the only issue I see is that it never turns off...it should turn off when I change the dial inside, no?

As long as the AC compressor is on, the fan will be on. Turn the AC off and the fan should turn off. Does yours do that?

If you have the AC button set to on, the AC will work in any mode.
If the AC button is set to off, the AC will only work in the defrost mode and only when the blower switch is turned to on as well.
Hope this helps?
Al.

Yes I understand this - however if the ac is off the fan should be right? Mine stays on when turning it off - blower and ac.

The fan condenser fan will be on when in defrost mode also as abarbmy said. So if your defrost is off the fan should be off also. It the defrost is off as well as the AC and the fan is on then there is an issue.

Could it be a relay or switch somewhere? In see references to relays but not any switch.
