Thanks For the reply IXman.

Well nobody was around on Saturday and they don't work today. Monday the 2/11/13 will start the third week.

I had mentioned this to Aarron about the MDS and they were aware this vehicle has that option. I did not ask the question to Tom. The popping noise sounds like it is coming from the intake/top of motor.

They they have removed the heads and inspected all the work again but it is still have the mis-fire and popping noise. How long can they go on trouble shooting this issue. How come a DODGE Dealer with certified mechanics cant figure this out.

Right now am past the pissed of stage and wondering if I should get a new vehicle? I am the type of person that runs my vechcles for 13 to 14 years and get my money worth out of them. This vechicle is only 7 years old have the life?

I think I will wait to see what they finally due before sending a full complaint to Chrysler. I don't want to send the complaint while they are still working out the issue.

Any suggestions would have?

Hopefully they can figure it out. Sounds like valve timing or a sticking valve to me.
Did they mess with the timing chain? Out of time perhaps?

Default Bad Lifter MDS on 2006 Dodge Durang

The One on the right is the bad one. The roller was worn down to a nub. How does this happen only 112k miles and changed oil every 3000k with the recommended oil.

My guess is they installed the wrong lifters. What you are discribing sounds like the intake valve aren't seating. A compression check should provide the information they need to know this. Besides even when they are ignoring the facts it comes down to that they caused the current problems and are responsible for getting it up and running. If they don't have the talent to repair it then ask them to replace it. I have caught my dealer lying to me and others so often that I really don't think they have a clue concerning anything automotive in nature. Very sad... Good luck..

When my lifters went bad (gummed up)... I would hear a pop/slapping noise once in a while when MDS was active.

On Thursday 2/21/2013, Well the saga is over. They finally put my Durango back together correctly. The misfiring and valve popping noise is a thing of the past. I talked to the Master Mechanic the next day (Tom) and he said the issue was adjusting the valve or valve that had the bad lifter. He thinks the old lifter was worn down so much that when the new lifter was installed it may have caused the sticking of the valve. The popping I was hearing when driving 35 to 45 mph was the valve. I know this because I visited the shop last Friday and Tom took me back to show status of the vehicle. Both heads were off and sitting on the bench. He pulled one of the valves back and let it pop back and that was the exact sound I heard when driving. Tom also admitted the first technician that did the job was on the "C TEAM" , but the technician that got it write was "A TEAM". I did get some extra parts and services (Fuel Injectors Flush, Spark Plugs, Tentioner and carbon cleaner on head). Another issue that was discovered with the original job was some issues with using the wrong torque.

Yes. The lifters are in the block, not the heads. So the heads need to be removed
