Optimas are great performers when you need more than a standard battery, but are not cheap.
For a standard battery, I gotta admit that it's still hard to beat a good, old Sears Diehard. Craftsman tools have gone to Chinese made crap for the most part, but the batteries still seem to be good...

I just replaced the original battery in my 06' Ram. There was nothing wrong with it, but i figure it's coming up on 6 years old and winter is around the corner, why risk it. I went with an Interstate basic model. I figure if the factory battery lasted just fine for this long, an Optima would be total overkill.

I have no need for an Optima or "performance" batteries. I buy my batteries on warranty and availability. Mostly I end up with a Wallys Everstart Maxx (still JC manufactured here) or an Autozone Duralast Gold. Price is reasonable, good warranty on both, and AZs and Wallys are everywhere, in case something should go south out of town it wont be hard to find one to exchange.
