You can get a false from a non-LSD also. My open 3.55 will spin both if traction is very close to equal and I don't stand on it. Example - backing up the driveway. If I push it a little too hard, both tires will spin a bit. But punch it from a standstill and only one will spin. Or, get it off the pavement and one tire will spin easily if you goose it.

Do a search for "C-Clip" either here or even a Google for that matter. Read to your hearts content...

Are you referring to a C-Clip style axle? If so I know all too well about those. I have been drag racing a Mustang for years and found out very quickly that C-Clip axles do not hold up well. The C-Clip eliminator kits they make also suck because they leak. Thats why most of the drag racing guys go to Ford 9" ends that dont use a C-Clip style axle.

No I'm referring to the clips that are on the LSD which are actually incorrectly called C-Clips. That break off, and make a nice mess when they get into the ring and pinion, often imploding the rear end. Do a search, most often talked about topic on a Ram after the "what size tire" topic. LOL...

I love me some ring and pinion carnage.

So what kinds of options are out there to fix this before it happens or to wait until it happens and then fix it?

Many choose to go with a aftermarket differential. But some have also removed the clutch clips before they break and/or the pieces after they have failed. Here, they are often mistakenly called C-clips, but c-clips are the axle retainers. The peices that fail are the clutch clips and are harden steel which have destroyed not only the gear set but have also damaged the axle housing requiring replacement. Not a pretty picture. I recently saw on Moe's site a OEM rebuild kit which may solve the problem. IDK. If the owner doesn't care about having limited slip, maybe just install a used OEM open differential, many have them laying around. Your choice... There is lots and lots of information on this on the forum.
