Default Gear Question

New guy to the forum. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram "Big Horn". I bought it used and I dont have a window sticker. I wanted to know what rear end ratio it has. I looked on the diff cover and there is no tag. Also looked inside the driver door and nothing there either.

Can anyone help me out?

Sticker inside the glove box? If not, go on the Dodge Truck website, to the Ram Owners section and request a "Build Sheet", they'll email it to you within a couple of days...

It's one of 2 gears. 3:55 or 3:92, but since youhave a BigHorn, I'm pretty sure you have 3:92's with the 20's??? Not entirely certain though.
You could mark a chalk line or wrap a piece of masking tape around the driveshaft and then mark a line. You'll need to mark a line on the tire sidewall as well or put a piece of tape there. You'll then need to slowly rotate the tire and watch how many revolutions your driveshaft makes in relationship to one tire revolution.
Easiest way is chock a front wheel and jack up the rear axle(both wheels) with the tranny in nuetral. Then just rotate the tire yourself.
If the drivehaft goes around 4 times, you have 3:92's. if it only goes around 3.5times, you have 3:55's.
it should only take you 10minutes total and then there's no waiting for anything to come in the mail...etc

Being a Big Horn you more than likely have 20's and if that is the case you more than likely have 3.92's. I'd send a request for the build sheet. It doesn't cost anything and you can find out some useful info on your truck.

Im on the Ram Owners site now. I cant find a specific place to request a build sheet. Can I just go to the contact us tab and send them an email stating that I am requesting them to send me a build sheet?

Put that rascal in the grass and stand on it... 3.55:1 will turn one wheel, 3.92:1 will turn both. The 3.55's aren't LSD to my knowledge.... 'Course, I've been wrong before, but I think the 3.92:1 9.25 rear ends are the only stock carriers on these trucks that are LSD.

I mean hell, you may as well have fun with it, right?

Mine came with 3.55's w/ LSD.
Either contact your dealership for a build sheet or do dirtydogs suggestion.

Did you check the glove compartment?

You can't make any assumptions! Get the damn build sheet. I thought I had it figured out what packages had what gears at one time BUT there is NO rhyme or reason. I've seen 20's with tow package with 3.55s and I've seen V6 RC trucks with 17s with 3.92s...

They used to have a "request build sheet" option under the "contact us", but I don't see it there anymore. Send them an email with your vin and ask them for a build sheet. Good to have one, even if you already know your gear ratio...

Wow- didn't know that. You can call the service department of a dealership and they can look it up based on your VIN. Question is, will they...
