Default What size nut is used in the headlights

Trying to take my headlights off my 07 ram. The is a nut in the fender well to take headlight off. you need an extension socket to access it. What size nut is used so i can go to store and buy the extension. Thanks

I have an 03 but use my 1/4 inch socket set with the long and short extension together and deep socket to give lots of length, but normal (short) socket will do. On Mine, I think it is 8mm which is standard in a metric box set.

A 3/8 set-up is too large/fat to get in there.

An extension will fit any nut. I used a 1/4" sized 3" long extension and a 1/4" ratchet.
As far as nut size...Gonna guess either 8 or 10mm. Been a looong time. I'd have to go out and check.
Did I misunderstand you?

I used the Torx T25 on mine, but yes, it's the same size as the front two bolts as someone else said. Just get a 6 inch long extension for your 1/4 inch drive socket set.

Oh, little trick I used to put the bolt back in - I have a couple of screwdrivers designed to hold the screw on the head. Very useful when fishing screws into tight areas like that third bolt. I used one, tightened it into the torx head and fished it into the threads. Once I had it turned into the threads a bit, I pulled the screwdriver out and used the Torx head to finish tightening it.
