I own a 03 ram1500 fwd truck 168,000 miles. I replaced front pads the other week without turning or replaceing rotors,truck now has bad vibration when I apply brakes.So I went and bought new rotors and put them on. Same problem.To shorted story I am back to old turned down rotors and old pads. Same vibration when brakes applied. I also lubed calipers so they move freely. Any suggestions on what else to try?

 

did you try changing back brakes or getting those rotors turned.

No I did nothing to the back brakes at all. Feels like all the vibration comes from the front as soon as brakes are applied. Not even hitting them hard. as soon as foot pushes down vibration starts.?????

Is the steering wheel moving or shaking when you hit the brakes?

 

Did you have to bleed the brakes?

 

No,well yes I did bleed the fronts not rears the problem didn't get any better.Jacked the truck up stuck rod into tie rod ends ball joints,no give or play the front end. For all intent and purpose its tight.The wheel vibrates with the front of the truck but only when the brakes are applied.Feels as if there is a high spot on the rotors or warped so the pads just touch one spot and throws the balance off.The one set of rotors are brand new napas and the old ones were turned down. How would the backs affect the fronts ?????????

 

I really don't know what else to say but, does it feel like anything to do with the anti lock brakes? If you step on them hard does it make any difference? Can you tell if the pads are making full contact?

 

Yeah!I don't know what else either hoped someone here would be able to help.My father inlaw retired super meticulas thinks the all need bleeding.I seem to think and wanna try replacing the rear pads. I'm going to put all the new stuff back on the new Pads ,rotors,then replace back pads n maybe rotors also. I replaced all of this stuff fronts and rears pads and rotors at 90k and never had this problem. My thoiughts now are that the anti-lock system some how is affected by the difference in the pad thickness. Glad I have another car for point A to B. just a pain and costly doing the guessing game.
