Unhappy Help! Line Stripped?

Replaced steering rack on 04 Ram 1500. Went fine except I cannot get larger return line to seat into the fitting. It's starts tighting up but the line never snugs up and leaks when I start it. I tried about 30 times and same result. What can I do?

Do the threads on the hose fitting and rack look good? Are they going in straight? How many threads are you getting to seat until it slips loose?

Any seals inside? I distribute radiators and ac parts and I cannot tell you HOW many returns I get for warranties because of a Leaking oil/transcooler line or Lines popping up compressors and the compressor going bad.

Long story short, 99.8% of these are because they stripped the threads (tightening things with an air wrench without starting it by hand) Lost a seal, or put an O-ring in the wrong spot.

I have never had to deal with a steering rack before but I know this is very common with the parts I have to deal with everyday! I would certainly try to find out if there might be a little seal inside one of the fittings. Good luck
