Default Stock ECM questions

I've got a couple questions about the stock ECM on my '06 Hemi Megacab 4X4. I am kicking around the idea of putting a 12v Cummins in it for a while now. My mind is not yet made-up on which auto tranny to use. Probably use an older, non-electronic one, or one that I can run on a stand-alone system. I plan on leaving the stock computer in place, it just won't have any input from the engine. My main question is does anyone know if anything in the cab (a/c for instance) will fail to work without feedback from the engine? I'm not concerned about making the cruise work right now. I know I could just sell it and buy a diesel truck, but that's not what I want to do.

You'll have a lot more issue's with feedback than just the A/C. You have a TIPM, which is a fancy electronically switched relay box. It controls EVERYTHING and needs to be matched to your ecu as well as does your cluster. The circuits are all multiplexed(one wire can control multiple outputs). You may also run into issue's with a standalone tranny. These newer trucks are very difficult to work around and the electronics are all in communication with one another.

Dirtydog, That's exactly what I was afraid of. I was just hopefull that the engine data that the ecu would no longer be receiving would only effect the the cluster and the tranny, which I probably wouldn't be using. May have to just learn to love my gas burner.

You can go diesel, but you would need everything to go with. Diesel programmed TIPM, ECU, TCM as well as tranny. Your existing cluster may or may not re-program itself to the diesel TIPM?
I know mileage is stored within your cluster, and you won't have any diesel warning indicators or trans pressure/temp like the diesel cluster is programmed to recieve and show.

Thanks for all the info, Dirtydog. My original idea was to buy a high mileage, single cab, work truck '06 Cummins and swap everything out. I got distracted by the simplicity and economy of the 12v engines. Thanks again for your time.
