Low oil issue, need help here

Exclamation Low oil issue, need help here

i check out my oil today to see what the level is and ind went down from 3/4 to 1/2 on the oil stick sooo then i when for a bottle of moble 1 oil and added to it when i openend the add line the top was redish in side the cap and around the seal so i was like what da hell here lately it has also been smoking a lil from the exost and i smell a lot of carben what is going on with my 2003 dodge????????

The red stuff is often the result of too-short trips. It's sludge (or the beginning). You smell carbon?

well its not really red red its like chocolate brown - red kinda and yes i took it to a mechanic and asked what he smelled and he said carbon when i let my truck idle for a while and take off white blue smoke comes out

sludge on the cap i thought sludge stays at the bottom

The cap is fine. That is normal.



The blue smoke is burning oil. Could be several things. I'll let the guys who are more qualified take a swing at that one. I would guess rings.

yea the sludge buildup on the cap is common, I believe its something to do with the location. And if you are smoking out the tail end with a white/blue smoke, you have most likely lost a ring. Thats a bigger deal

the truck is still under warranty and the dude at the dealer ship keeps telling me use c foam i used three bottles one can each tank and friends tell me the o2 sensor is going out but the check engine light aint on and the truck runs great i had this truck for 2 months and the smoke shows up maby 3 times a week only if i let it idle too long and take off it does it other wise the truck has all the power in the world
