I know how you feel I just bought a 1500 and started having shifting problems. It was low on fluid. I put Lucas fix and after driving it around it works fine. I bought a scanner at Harbor Frieght for 119.00 and cleared the codes now there gone. Before I did all this I took it to Amaco and he told me the tranny was gone. Thats funny its working fine.

Glad it is working for you but take that scanner back and for another 75-125 (plus the 120 you spent on the scanner) you can get a Superchips tuner so you can tune the truck AND scan/reset the codes

From what I have seen here on the boards, the issue was that people were doing pan drops with filter change and then shortly there after running into poor shifting and other odd trans behavior. after some research, someone figured out that, in some cases, it was due to improperly installing that o-ring and filter. If the o-ring is not seated correctly it will suck air in, and behave like it is slipping and or low on fluid.

I have not read or heard of any damage due to the improper installation, but I am sure after prolonged operation with a bad o-ring seal wouldn't help anything and could lead to some problems.

I recieved a call from the shop. They dropped the pan and checked the filters. and O ring They said they were fine. He went on to say that the multiple codes indicated it needs a rebuild.

Anyone evey trade in a vehicle with a bad tranny? How do they determine value?

you should have just checked them yourself. now you cornered yourself for paying a shop to do it. they are now in a position to make hundreds off you or almost nothing for fixing a tranny filter and im sure they are slow right now.

Yeah, before you let them do it, get a quote and call around town and price them out. Call places that also sell re-manufactured trans as well. Also find out warranty lengths from everyone. Dont get screwed.
