Where does this stray wire go???!!!
I just completed a nightmare, heater core change in my 2002 dodge ram 1500. Everything went great, but.....I have a stray wire under my dash hanging down? It is a white plug, 2 prong, female, with the soft insulation around it, composed of 2 wires, one of them is orange with black stripe and one is yellow with a red stripe. It hangs down from around steering column in a bigger harness. don't rember pulling this apart from any thing, as far as i can tell everything is working. Any idea what this is?

There are lot of connectors just "there" and not used in all models. They are there for assembly line convenience and add-on convenience. I'm not sure what that exact connector is for, but if your truck has everything operable, I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep it in the back of your head incase you stumble across something that doesn't work.
Sorry I cant help you with the connector under the dash, but I can look to see if mine is connected to anything.
I was doing some under hood work yesterday and stumbled on to a wire on the passenger side of the firewall, its orange, labeled PTO, I can only assume it mean power take off, but its only a 16 or 14 gauge wire, not much power. Any one know what it is for?

I began to think that maybe it was at one time hooked up to the stock center speaker on the dash. (no longer there) but I can not confirm this. The wires are the same color as the front dash speakers, could not find a picture of what the factory speaker or connector looks like.

I have this as well and have wondered the same for a while. I found this
PTO SWITCH DESCRIPTION This Powertrain Control Module (PCM) input is used only on models equipped with aftermarket Power Take Off (PTO) units. OPERATION The input is used only to tell the PCM (or ECMDiesel) that the PTO has been engaged. The PCM (or ECM) will disable (temporarily shut down) certain OBD II diagnostic trouble codes when the PTO is engaged. JTEC and NGC Engine Controllers: When the aftermarket PTO switch has been engaged, a 12V + signal is sent through circuit G113 to PCM pin A13. The PCM will then sense and determine that the PTO has been activated. CM 845 or CM 848 Diesel Engine Controllers: When the aftermarket PTO switch has been engaged, a 12V + signal is sent through circuit G113 to ECM pin B38. The ECM will then sense and determine that the PTO has been activated.
