456 gears? my stock ones are 392........I will probably go ahead and replace the clips, still have a few questions regarding back lash checking, etc. but I am sure I'll figure that out. As for this rebuild kit - - who sells that? I just ordered the retaining clip pack from local dodge dealer for $10 - I'd be interested to know about this rebuild kit. As for the pinion seal (it was bad as well) I just bought one from Advance Auto but now I wonder if that was a good idea...I have read where people are buying a double lipped seal, my local shops don't carry them - where should I go for that?

Thanks all!

Weed, I believe that is a OEM differential and new 4:56 gear set. Still would need a Master Install kit. Cheap fix..

Yeah, you are correct. That was an OEM unit. IDK where I got Auburn from.

I would suggest buying all the stuff from an actual "drivetrain" place. Do you have a Valley Truck Parts around you? Thats where I purchased my rebuild kit. They are basically a drivetrain shop that works on anything from light duty trucks all the way up to semis and large dump trucks.

As far as the pinion seal, I have heard that is a real pain. Something about a one time deal... if you don't get it right the first time than it can not be reused? Not too sure, don't know much about it.

Unless you are good at learning new things and following directions, I would suggest maybe just taking it to a drivetrain shop. Not to mention it may take special tools as well.

Good luck!

I'm in Shelbyville, KY. around the Metro Louisville area. Can anyone recommend a Good place to install my new DTT?
