NOT the truck in my sig, but buddy driving his ram in snow in 4hi turns into parking lot at 10mph and hits dry pavement. Loud bang, and no longer working front axle.
I looked at it today and found that in 2wd I could turn the front driveshaft while the truck was on the ground, and both cv axles would sort of wobble, but not turn?? Seems like something may have broken inside the diff, or could axle shafts pop out of retainers? He said when it happened yesterday he just drove home in 2wd, but today it makes a new noise even in 2wd. Still no function from front axle. Shifter moves the transfercase just fine, trouble is between the driveshaft and cv shafts.
Any ideas before I help tear it apart in my garage?
