2005 Dodge Ram 1500-4.7 L- Future upgrade Questions
I have the 4.7L In my 04... Previous owner had a Flowmaster 40 (1 into two) ran out the back on 45's.... (nothing fancy, no tips, 2 1/4 piping not shiny)... Just plain exhaust... and mine sounds pretty good... Doesnt drone except at 65mph.... Easy fix, do 5 over or 5 under... Also putting it out on a 45 is a good way to make the guy at the light next to you crap his pants when u rev it to 6k!

That depends on how much mechanical knowledge you have... Have you ever torn down a motor before?
Sean makes a good point. The 4.7 is an overhead cam engine, so you'd be swapping two cams not one. AIRRAM does offer tools for loan for cam swaps, but for expertise you need at least the RAM manual, and a DF member if you aren't mechanically inclined. HO cams are probably the best bet for mpgs. Don't go hog wild on exhaust pipe diameter either. THe 4.7 does well with a 3 inch single, or 2.25 inch duals. Any bigger and exhaust velocity drops too much. If you cut the end of the pipe at an angle, that will reduce the strength of the reflected exhaust pulses, making things a little quieter. It also helps to extend the tailpipe a little past the bumper or side of the truck.
Weed hit on a good one--get an Efan. You can also perform some weight reduction... Centerline makes light 20 inch wheels if you truck has factory 20s.
If you really want to monitor fuel economy, get yourself a scangauge/AeroForce Interceptpr/MPGuino, or something that will display instant MPG or fuel flow. I think a Transgo shift kit might help...I didn't get mine for that, but it shortens shifts which should help a bit.

Hey guys, im looking on LMC Truck and they have some throttle body spacers. It says it improves gas mileage and such. Would this be a good idea?
