Depending on the point at which your '04 was built, Dodge changed the wiring of the amp, requring a signal from the computer bus. When you put in an aftermarket head unit, the computer does not recognize it, and thus, does not turn the amp on.

One approach is to find an alternative power source for the amp, and manually switch it to work. Sorry, I can't give you the specifics. It's a real pain. The other option is to completely rewire everything and bypass the factory amp. Also a real pain.

This may be a stupid question, but did you connect the power antenna wire or did you omit it since you don't have a power antenna? The signal from the power antenna wire turns on the amp/powered speakers in the infinity system. I almost rewired an entire truck before I tried connecting that little blue wire that I thought I didn't need.

just got mine in an hour ago. i had the same problem. i put in a JVC HU with my factory Infinity setup. i used a wire connector for my make/model....no cutting into factory wiring.

**SOLUTION***
make sure you connect the blue w/ white stripe (remote power on) to your blue wireharness. your factory amp needs this power to send audio. i hooked up mine and VIOLA! sound!

I meant to do a write up on this and never got around to it. Here's a short angry version - I have a 05 QC with the 7 speaker infiniti ------------------

With my model, and i hear some late model 04's dodge uses a computer bus to turn this amp on. Well guess what, i searched high and low, and there is no special piece that I found you can buy to turn this POS on. Don't believe, good. Do some research and look in the service manual (not owner's manual) for your model dodge. It spells it out clearly on how this thing is set up. It needs a data bus connection, not a +5v blue antenna wire, to turn on.

The service manual i found online, but sorry i dont have a link right now. You may find it if you search my history of threads.

Now to resolve this issue. you can do the following - buy a new amp, so you can power all 7 speakers from the headunit

or remove the POS factory amp, and follow the service manual to hook your new head unit up to only the four door speakers........This is what i did, because the above option would have cost more money, and i just spent money on a 600$ dvd unit, a 250$ sub case, 200 subs -

maybe in the future i will pay to have it done right, so i can re-use the dash speakers but until then, my stereo sounds pretty good

Hit me up with questions but understand, not everyone is right when they say you can power this thing up with the 5+v power antenna wire (i have heard rumors on criss-crossing some red an yellow wire on the amp, but never found any solid info...please post if you know)
