Default Front-end knocking. I can feel it in my steering.

Exited the freeway today in my 2007 1500 QC Hemi 4x4 and heard a knocking coming from up front at a low speed . It stopped as I stopped at a light but began again as I began to accelerate. I could feel it in my steering wheel. I'm thinking U-joints...

Any ideas? Typical cost to repair? I tend to be a sucker and want to take it to the dealership to ensure it is done right but would obviously prefer to save the cash and go with a local business.

Input/advice?

Thanks!

You will just have to pick up the phone and call some local shops in your area. What they may charge here might be way different than where you are. Try looking at some parts locally as well and comparing them to online stores such as www.rockauto.com

Hopped in it this morning and guess what, no noise at all. So I drove it around for a while and still no noise. Decided to play it safe and take it to the dealership anyway and they put it up on the rack and gave it a good little check and found nothing.

I'm glad it is gone, but now it is going to bug the hell out of me wondering what it was and how it "healed" itself...

Gotta love these trucks!

If it does it when turning its a bad wheel bearing. Mine starting doing it. Was getting a thump in the wheel and floor board. When it got to this point my wheel about feel off. At first it was on and off and then got constant after a few days.

Did it seem to go away completely at any point and then return? My truck is not making any noise at all right now, whether I turn or not. No feeling in the steering anymore either...
