Default Parking in 4X4?

I have a 2006 1500 TRX. i live in canada so my winters get cold (-20 to
-40). I believe i remember my Dad telling me not to park/shut truck off with it left in 4 wheel drive, something about things freezing up. I dont do it, but the BF tends to all the time. This is one of the shift on the fly types. If anyone knows the rules about parking in 4X4, can you share with me, so i have some knowlege when confronting the BF about it. Thanks so much!

Nah. I do it. It's all electronic. There is nothing to "freeze up". Now, the sensor can fail and it may get locked in 4wd, but that can happen in 2wd as well.
Your fine. No need to switch back and forth if your in need of it constantly.

Yeah, no need to take it out of 4x4. I was up in the Sierra's camping and had it parked for 3 days in the snow and left it in 4x4 and nothing happened.

I would only assume the old locking hub type 4x4's were affected by the cold. I could see that turn key on the spindles freezing up. But with the all time system that is electronically controlled. I would have to agree. x3 on leaving it on. weather conditions permitting. (not a good Idea if cold but roads are dry imo)

Being in 4hi or 2hi while parked makes no difference in battery consumption. Once that ignition goes off, the power to the 4wd module gets disabled therefore battery consumption is not hindered or extended. Temp and humidity play a role in a parked vehicles battery life.
