Default Tail light problem

I have a problem with the drivers side tail light, my truck says i have a tail light out one min. then the next min it will say i dont, and it switches back and forth between being the drivers side brake light and the drivers side rear turn signal. its not the bulb because it works and then doesnt work, but i changed those anyways just to make sure. i also checked all the connections and fuses they are all fine. could it be a short or something like that? I suck at electrical so any ideas would help, thanks

it is a common issue on 03 and some 04 that in the back tail light the socket is melted or corroded and gives the symptom of a bad light. So pull those lights and carefully check ALL the sockets. If nothing else, replace ALL the bulbs

I agree with Weedahoe. You'll need to take the light off and apart to see if it's all coroded. If it is, replace and even if they aren't, cover the crap out of the connectors with Dielectric grease for corrosion prevention!
