bad blend door??

Default bad blend door??

i just bought an 06 dodge ram 1500 with 26k miles on it last thursday and i didnt realize that the heater isnt working right ive done some research and the closest i can come up with is a bad blend door?.?. but what these ppl are explaining isnt my problem my problem is that if u crank up the fan for the heater and put it on the vents its comming out like its barely on low, defrost is even worse the floor is the best outa the 3 but to me should be doing a lil better job you can hear the fan running on the passenger side of the dashboard like a bat outa hell and the truck gets hot just very lil air flow any ideas?

maybe the filter is clogged? Check that with low miles on an 06 seems it sat and maybe collected debris in the filter

Sounds like the control for the mode door motors.

If you grab the service manual for the '06 from Weedahoe, you can see the diagram for this on page 2975 of the PDF document (page 8W-42-4 if you go by the service manual page numbering). It is not well marked but the mode switch moves the position of the 2 motors that control where the air is routed. Sounds as if yours is stuck mostly on floor but partially on vents and almost nothing on defrost.

The switch may not be working properly or you could have a connector or wire issue from the switch to the motors.

I do not know where the Control module for the AC & Heater control is without looking for it on the '06 but maybe someone else knows. Could be right behind the dash panel where the switches are located, dunno.

Sounds like the blend door actuators.

My guess is the recirc door has broken off and is covering the fan intake, preventing full air flow.

Mine has that issue right now, but it's -20 right now so the repair has to wait for a tad.

Had a total of three blend doors replaced on my '06. The last one broke after the warranty was up so I dropped the blower and reached in and removed the door.

Agree. Pull the fan and see if the door is laying on top of it.
