Default antifreeze issue

Hi,

My 4.7 's antifreeze is going down about 1 gallon in 2-3 weeks ,The dealership checked compression and found no problem, none in oil and I can"t smell any burning in exhaust, and no leaks. I'm sure its being burnt up, what harm is it doing ? Does the 4.7 have an intake manifold issue ?

Welcome aboard.

That's a lot of loss. Nothing from the water pump weep hole? If not, and no other leaks, it has to be going out the tail pipe. Not a good scenario. Good luck.

Welcome, although you are on the right track, I urge you to look more carefully. As you know the coolant system is a sealed unit so if you are loosing fluids you are either leaking it externally or internally. If you are 100% it is not external then you have to be leaking and using/burning it internally.

It may just be so slight so are not seeing it or smelling it.

It would be white smoke if the coolant is burning,

not true mine didnt really smoke but I could smell it a little bit I have a 2002 with the 4.7 and had the same problem as you I would go through the overflow tank once a month and could not find no leaks so I took it to 2 shops and no one could find anything. But in my mind if I'm losing it then its going somewhere and I'm going to find it lol so I took it to the dealership and the tore the engine down and found a small crack in the head very common problem with the 4.7 and I had it all pressure tested just like you and was not losing any presser. So my guess would be if your not losing it externally then it is internal most likly the heads sorry for the news mine was covered under warranty if it wasnt covered under warranty I was looking at about a 2 grand repair bill
