Exclamation Oil Pressure

I have an issue with my oil pressure. As you can see in the pictures, the pressure while I'm driving at a steady pace is normal Oil Pressure-img_2652.jpg, but when I slow down to a stop the pressure drops Oil Pressure-img_2654.jpg. The reverse happens when I accelerate quickly, the pressure will climb to almost 3/4 of the way up. I am not sure what the problem is and could use a little help guys. Thanks.

I don't think this helps, but mine always goes right to the middle and stays there. No matter if I gun it or stop at a light.

I would stick a manual gauge on and see what happens...if the oil pressure continues to be low at idle and shoot up at higher RPM, time to investigate...first oil pump, them main and cam bearings.

Ramdan82 has an 07 whereas Kscha41 has an 04. There are threads on this and it is normal for an 07 because they actually measure better oil pressure. I think the rule of thumb is 10# per 1k RPM or something like that. But either way, you are normal.

I had a similiar issue with my '02' QC. It turned out I just had to replace the sensor. I had to buy a special socket but it was farily easy. There was a slight leak around the oil pressure sensor and once it was replaced everything went right back to normal. It never ran any different just the gauge was going nuts.

Newer oil pressures can be as low as 7 or 8psi at idle. The 05-prior guages were "generalized" pressures where as 06+ have a wider range they can cover more accurately. I barely pay attention to the oil guage. As long as it's not lying down and bouncing upright, I call it good.

I have the exact same "issue" and was wondering if you've had any trouble come from it. I've never owned a Dodge and I am extremly paranoid.

I have not experienced any problems as a result of the "issue", I was just worried that it was the start of a problem. After reading the previous posts by others I am confident that it is just the gauge diplaying a more accurate reading of the oil pressure. If your Ram is 06+ then I would suspect that you are experiencing the same, more accurate pressure reading.

Mine does the same thing since the day I bought it. I asked the dealer if this was normal and they told me that it was. I went back a week later and test drove another 08 Ram, and the oil pressure gauge did the exact same thing so I believe them. It's normal
