Default New Tires and Rims..need fitment info

hey all,
I have a 2007 1500 4x4 quad cab SB.

it came with 245 70 17

looking at a tire and rim package..... would a 285 60 18 fit on my truck? how much wider is a 285 vs. a 245?

it is still completely stock suspension wise.....

ya... stupid me started researching AFTER I posted instead of before.... as far as I can tell they should fit fine... looks like they would only be a couple inchs wider then stock (stock is 9.64 in, a 285 is 11.22 in.) and the difference in overall diameter with the rims I am looking at will be 31.46 inchs instead of the stock 30.50 inchs.

What fits will be largely dependent on the wheels you choose. The problem isn't so much height, you can clear a 33" tall tire on a stock 4x4, but it's the width. The stock wheels are not very conducive to a wide tire with a little over 11" being max, but if you were to get a wheel with a negative offset and about 4.5" of backspacing, you could clear up to a 12.5" inch wide tire...

I would not reccomend that backspacing. Goin off my stocker 20's that are 19mm offset/5.75" backspacing. Your getting a wheel that will set in further than the stock one's. That is ofcourse if they are 9" wheels? If they are wider than 9" than that is better with that backspacing but not for the tire choice, but ideally you want 5.5"bs for a stock look and to run a slightly wider tire. Go 5"bs if you want the wheels to be flush with the fenders for that wide stance look. Anything wider will stick out.

245-285 is 40mm diff which is ~1.6" wider

285/60/18 is a 31.5" tall tire and has a width of 11.22" and will fit fine. You can go up to a 33" tire with no issue's at all. My stock 20's came with 33"s stock.
That tire on those wheels will be extremely close to your upper control arm balljoint! I have 10.8" wide tires on stock backspacing(5.75") and have less than 1/2" of clearance. You want to put on a wider tire and a shallower backsapcing that will eat up all of that 1/2" of clearance. Get a smaller backspacing!

ALSO, Bolt pattern is NOT 5-139!!! It's 5x5.5 There is a difference! They will bolt on, but may become loose regularly and you may have vibrations.
5x139mm is 5.47" NOT 5.5" it takes 139.7 to get to 5x5.5. That .7mm makes the entire circumference of the bolt pattern noticeably smaller and will make every hole too short. So make sure you get 139.7 or 5x5.5 bolt pattern and a bachspacing of 5.5" or less and an offset smaller than 19mm. (Offset is proportional and directly related to backspacing, they are not seperate numbers even though they seem like they are)

thank you very much for that info!

looking on Tire Rack, when I enter my truck info the only bolt pattern that comes up is listed as 5-139. I would have to call to confirm the actual bolt pattern measurements.

what about something like this......

Size: 17x8.5
Offset: 6mm
Backspacing: 5.04"
Bolt Pattern: 5-139
Rec. Tire Size: 265/70-17

Yeah, that'll work. I actually can't find a 5x139 wheel that's NOT 5x139.7 when you look at the actual specs. I also can't find a single vehicle that uses a 139.0mm spread. So I would think they are just leaving off the ".7"...
