Gear Pros wanted, pattern analysis
Just looking for opinions on the gear pattern of the new gears. I think it's just about perfect. A little more on the tow side but otherwise, I think pinion depth is just about perfect. Any opinions, suggestions? If anything, maybe a thinner shim on the pinion?

I know there are a couple people on dodge talk who did their own or are techs that can give you advice about the pattern. Here is a link w/ some helpful info on setting up the ring and pinion http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...structions.pdf, and here is a thread where they went back and forth w/ pics on getting the pattern good http://www.*********.com/forums/show...=260009&page=2, just put "dodge talk" w/ no spaces where the *'s are. Good luck.

If we're talking about contact, I'll have to take pictures of the pinion gear. Just about both sides of every tooth is almost covered. If that's not good contact, I don't know what is. Will have to do that tomorrow.

I haven't set up any gears but from the factory manual your pattern looks pretty good, maybe try a little thicker shim on the pinion to center the pattern face to flank better. It could just be the pic but it looks like the pattern is not quite centered. I'm sure you know this from reading up, but w/ a new set the pattern on the drive side is the most important and they say having it centered from face to flank is much more important than heel to toe. It also says to apply the parking brake lightly to create 10 ft./lbs rotating torque when you are checking the pattern.
