thats a vague question for the amount of options you have.

Are you buying a 2wd or 4x4? a 1500 or 2500? And 1998 vs 2003 is a big difference in body styles and suspension.

A body lift is cheap and easy to do. Wont decrease the rake and wont give you more flex, etc. A suspension lift is "better" if you offroad. You could just level it if you are trying to fit bigger tires and thats all. There are different size lifts for each, a 1" and 3" body lift, 3" 4" 5" 6" suspension lifts (many claim more than they give)

Heres mine with 2.5in level and 3in body

Big differences between 2nd Gen ('94-'01) and 3rd Gen trucks.

I think the most important information needed is how high are you planning to go, what size tires you want to run and if you are looking at a 4x2 or 4x4 before anyone can give a good answer to you.

My '04 with 4" suspension lift and 35" tires:

I am looking at a 4x4 2001. Running either 33's or 35's. I do alot of muddin, and playing in the snow. I am just looking to lift it up a little, and have some clearance on the tires.

for a 2001 just a 2" level on the front and you can run the 33's
