Default Oil Consumption???

I have noticed that my past two oil changes (every 3000mi), i have done that my truck would be 2.5-3quarts low. Ive checked and i am 100% certain no oil is leaking on to the ground because nothing is wet underneath the truck, and no spots are ever left

I've been doing some research and it seems like my symptoms could be from a plenum and/or intake gasket that has failed. Is that what it is or is there anything else that it can be?

thanks yall

Man, that much loss is severe! Could be many things. Either it's burning oil something fierce, or it's leaking into the coolant. Any oil in the reservoir?

I know thats what I thought!

The coolant is crystal clear, and the exhaust smoke isnt blue, like it would be from bad piston rings.

Gotta be goin' somewhere. Burnin' or leakin'. Might want to put some antifreeze in the coolant. Does it puff a blue cloud on start up?

Yea, by crystal clear i meant it is the appropriate green color with no contaminants. I recently did a flush/fill and even that was clean. No smoke at all really, aside from the normal.

Remove the airhat, open up the throttle blades and look down inside the intake. With that amount of oil usage, you'll probably see a lot of oil puddled on the belly pan. If so, you are the perfect canidate for the plemum fix to replace the blown belly pan gasket and the steel belly pan with an aluminum one.

It's the plenum, get the Hughes kit and do it right so you only have to do it once...

As said, if you are not leaking externally then it has to be internally. Hammer knows a good bit about the 5.9 so I would follow him on it

Remove the air filter tube off the throttle body and take you a flash light and peek down the TB. You'll see a puddle of oil and/or residue down there. Tell-tale sign of plenum leak.

As I stated above, get the Hughes kit to fix it for good, then get you a Superchips Flashpaq to get rid of the stupid Death Flash (which was Dodge's lame attempt to fix the plenum issue without fixing the plenum issue) and have you like 50 more HP and 60 more TQ!!!

I have a similar issue on my 5.7. No oil in coolant and no smoke. Does this apply to a 5.7 as well? Thanks
