Alignment and Rubbing
so when i got my lift, they included an alignment, with a 30 day warranty. So it wasn't horrible, but it defiantly wasn't good! So I took it in, and received it back today. They showed me it was "in the green." I said alright and took it.
First thing that happens when I cut backing out, i hear a horrible rub! I'm worried cause of my brush-guard that i may gash my tire. So I'm driving to lacrosse practice, and I wanna see how the alignment improved... it didn't! its worse than ever! going 40mph on a straight, flat road, i managed to go from the left lane to the right lane in less than 5 seconds!
I know i'm calling bull **** on the rubbing and getting that fixed, but is there something about having a lift, and mudding tires that makes my alignment almost non-existent?
open to all suggestions and opinions!
Thanks in advance,
MikeyBob
P.S. I got the lift from Maximum Motorsports which does their alignment work directly with goodyear... if thats any help.

Just take it back and let them test drive it. Im surprised they didnt anyway.
What kind of tire and lift did you get? I seriously doubt it is rubbing against the brush guard. It might be rubbing against the lower front tire liner or the edge of the lower damn but thats nothing major. You can trim the end of the lower dam to clear or use a heat gun to heat up and push out the liner a bit to clear.

yea theres a slim chance its rubbing the brush guard. The rockstars have a pretty good backspacing so you probably arnt rubbing the UCA.
Do you have any chalk? like concrete little kid chalk? clean your fender liner, rub it over the front bottom two inches and the rear bottom two inches of the front fender and do the same thing, cut it and back up. Might have to go on a hill
And if the alignment is that bad take it back. They should be able to get it in alignment even with a lift

Well, you have two different issues, since alignment shouldn't cause a rub unless it's WAY out of whack.
I'd make 'em test drive it on the alignment issue for sure.
As far as the rubbing goes, the chalk thing is a good idea. Need to know exactly where it's rubbing to know how to go about fixing it. If it's hitting steering components, then it's spacers or a wheel with a better offset and backspacing. If it's hitting internal fender or anything else, you may have to trim. Could be the weight of the brush guard is pulling the front down just enough so you rub. I have the same issue on my Jeep Grand Cherokee when I slide the 120# of winch and cradle on the front. Will never rub when it's off, but when it's on the front, it's weighing the front down just enough to rub after about 90% turn.
That's why I've never been a fan of 35s with just a level kit. Tires will fit with the right wheel, but fitting and being able to do things with it like off-road and haul are two different things. I'd like to see room for some articulation under the wheel well, even if it means going to a smaller tire...

Thanks for the replies!
I took it into the MM yesterday and they said they'd have it back to me at noon, sure enough I got it around 5... The guy said they've taken it apart 3 times now and it looks perfect, shows in the green... And as soon as they put it down the driver wheel wants to turn right. He asked if I ever wrecked it, and I told him no but it was used... He thinks the problem is either a bent frame or my bumper is too heavy and putting tension on the front axle!
After checking the car facts there was no reported accident on it. So I guess it's my bumper!
And its a powertech 6" with 35nittos

I doubt very seriously it's the weight. Now way you have more weight on the front of your truck as I have on mine and mine tracks dead straight. I just had to do an alignment cause I replaced my tie rod ends and I can drive down a 1/4 mile straightaway and still stay in lane.
I'd get my a$$ underneath and look at the frame. Wouldn't be the first time a Carfax didn't show things.

Your truck should not be out of alignment that bad. I dont know how much it would cost to get a shop see if your frame is bent. I think its something they did/didnt do. Your tie rod ends could be pulling or pushing. Theres just a multitude of things that could/couldnt be wrong.

First off I forgot to mention they did fix the rubbing.
The MM wants to figure out the problem, they aren't charging me for this because I'm under their warranty right now. I'm going to take the bumper test cause I mean it shouldn't take long... And if that doesn't seem to do the trick I'm going to see if a dealership will be able to help me out.
