Default ABS Problem, any ideas?

I have a 2004 Ram 2500. Having issue with the ABS system. Driving away, I heard a noise underhood & the ABS warning, Brake/Park & Malfunction lights came on. Returned home & ABS motor was running. Disconnected battery cable, motor stopped. Reconnected cable, the motor started again. I shut off the key & stepped on brake pedal firmly several times. Reconnected cable & the motor did not start again. Everything seems to be working again, brake wise, (didn’t try the anti-lock function with a panic stop). However then all three indicator lights came on but Malfunction Indicator light does go out while the other two continue on. I tried it again, now all lights go out, the malfunction light goes out first then the other two. Seems to be working normally again.
Any ideas what could have caused this? Is there anything else I could or should do? I have access to a code reader/diagnostic tool available to me. Thank you for any thoughts or ideas. Joe Martin

Certainly check the MIL and CEL for DTC codes stored. Thats always a step you want to take and can help guide you or lead you in a possible direction for a resolution. Let us know what codes you find and welcome to the site
