Weld it man it's just better that way won't come Loose or rattle and can't get stolen

I haven't heard of the Y pipes getting stolen, but I know quite a few guys who've had chrome tips and in some cases mufflers stolen. I never thought to try to find out if they were taking off clamped on systems only or cutting off welded on systems...

Well i do know arseholes around here were stealing cats with sawzalls some time back. So i guess it is possible.

You'd be suprised Ive heard of people stealing cats mufflers tips anything loose and even welding. I know their reselling them too.
