That is strange. Not to be offensive but you do realize the test ports come plugged and you have to remove the plug to install your adapter right?

Yes, i realize this. I don't have any plugs. the spots for them are cast into the tranny but they just dont have plugs. Is it different for 3/4 ton's??? I have a 545rfe if I remember right. I wouldn't know why, that's what most all have right? My bad I just assumed and never checked because it was butt **** cold out there. Oh well.

There have been reports of some trans cases and housings not being drilled and tapped for them.

i installed my tranny temp gauge last night. i installed the sender in the line from the tranny to the cooler (top line). hooked everything up and went for a drive and noticed that the temp fluctuates quite a bit. if i press down hard on the gas the temp slowly goes up to 120 or so then once i am at cruising speed it drops back down to 100. some time the temperatures are different but i wasnt sure if this was normal or maybe i had my sender wires crossed or something (stupid me used the same color extension wires and didnt label either wire). i thought it would be more like the coolant temp gauge and just slowly come up and stay about the same for the most part. any info would be appreciated. thanks

So on my 3/4 ton, what line is the line FROM the tranny? I'm FINALLY gonna get my stuff put in after a year of waiting.

I know this thread is old, but since it was bumped up, i figured this question should be answered.

The rapid rise and fall is normal and is a good thing. It happens because the sender is at the source where the fluid has just "done it's job" in the transmission. You can see exactly how rapidly the temperature increases and decreases in response to the load. Mounting the sender in the pan is the worst place since it's going to rise and fall very slowly as ALL the fluid in the pan heats and cools in response to the load. In most cases, a rapid rise and and fall will not even be noticed in a pan mounted sender situation.

Unless something has changed, it should be the TOP line. You can also trace it back from the cooler. The hot fluid goes through the top of the cooler first, then out the bottom row.
