Default MDS problems

So recently I have been noticing that when my truck's MDS system kicks in the truck actually loses power...it seems to be luging...then when the MDS shuts off the truck is fine again. Any one have this problem before?

Well, that's what it's supposed to do. When the MDS kicks in, only 4 cyl operate, to improve MPG's. You don't have any problems with your truck. You can, however, get a tuner and shut it off.

Invest in a Tuner. I have the Diablo Predator and love it. After disabling the MDS and tuned for 91 octane, I actually got better mpg's. Better shifting also.

Yeah, it's funny how 8 cylinders pushes a 5000+ lb. pickup truck better than 4 cylinders does...

Sounds like its working perfectly. Now do yourself a favor and get a tuner to shut it off for good. MDS seems to work fairly well in the lighter LX cars. I have a 300c that I got before the RAM and the MDS is pretty seemless and also does improve MPG's quite a bit. The ram from day one I could feel what you are describing and if you ever want to put a free flowing muffler on you will hate the sound of it kicking in and out. And as far a MPG's are concerned I showed very little difference with it disabled, less that 1mpg for my driving conditions.

thanks for the input guys. i am definitely planning on getting a tuner and shutting it off. I understand how the MDS works but it seems as of lately that when it kicks on it is actually lugging more than usual. Guess i will have to take the easy way out and just tune it out.

I notice that if I am driving less than 65 mph and the MDS kicks on, it lugs pretty bad, but if I am going over 65 mph, it works pretty good. I would disable my MDS (because it does slightly annoy me) but I get such good mileage on long trips that I don't want to mess with it. I also like how quiet my truck is so when I do change out the muffler with a better flowing muffler, it will probably be a quiet magnaflow muffler to where I won't hear the MDS kicking on/off.

well with my flowmaster and dual tips, it sounds like ****. it feels like the transmission is kicking around but i guess its the MDS. you can def tell a difference with the exhaust.
