Broken fog lights
Does anyone else have problems with broken factory fog light glass?
One of mine got shattered by a rock from a Mustang on the interstate shortly after i bought the truck. I figured I'd just get another one but then I started looking at all of the 3rd generation Rams in the parking lot at work. Out of about 5-6 and 3 had a broken fog light, 1 didn't have fog lights and another had both lights shattered.
So, it seems that these are pretty prone to getting shattered. I searched on here but couldn't find any reference to them being commonly broken.
It looks like I can get an aftermarket replacement for around $50 but I probably won't bother if they are just going to get broken again. I checked the junkyard by my house where they have several 3rd gen Rams but none had a usable right fog light.
Any other ideas on where to get replacements for cheap?

There are several broken everywhere I look. I used to have rdx billet grilles covering mine. a buddy of mine also put the plastic piece with the three horizontal bars in front of his and that seems to have saved his which used to get busted every three months or so.. might be a route you want to go.
I guess I've been lucky, I've never broken mine in 11 years between my 2nd Gen & 3rd Gen Rams and I used to be a bit more aggressive off-road with the 2nd Gen.
If'n it were me, I'd replace the light, then buy me a set of wire off-road light guards in the diameter of the fog light. You can put them in the inset of the bumper and probably just attach to the inset with self tapping screws...

I have had an issue with a broken fog lamp also, and the one i had was glass. I think that is a problem for mine in these parts of the woods. My ford had a real durable plastic and not the glass. Never once broke a fog lamp in the ford.
