Does anyone have a sound clip of what runing opens headers on a Hemi sound like? Has anyone ran open headers on the drag track? Im curious what the time would be. Also if anyone would know about how much horse you would gain by running open headers? I know you can't do it everywhere, but it would be a big gain in horse just for whipping some mustang ***'s down the track. One last does any one know how much it costs to buy a y-pipe with the exhuast cut-out?

I ran open headers on my ford 351 v-8 around town for 2 days. I am suprised that I didnt get pulled over. I was in the process of replacing the exhaust and manifolds. That thing was so loud that when I drove into a parking lot that people would run and grab their children. It was funny. It really doesnt have a good sound to it though like an exhaust, too raspity. I dont hink that you will find big gains if any by straight headers. A nicely designed exhause gives off backpressure that can increase power than without it.

 

i read a magazine that mentioned that running open headers added only 9 more horse power. I would thought it would had alot more then that. At the drag strip you can legally run open headers and you dont have to worry about the loudness. However i would think it would added alot more horsepower then that. Anyone ran open headers on there ram?
