Default Remote Start Quite Working - Ram 2500

At the holidays I came across a real nice, low mileage 2004 Ram 2500. One of the features that is new to me is the remote start feature. Mine was installed by the factory and works off of the keyless entry remote. Basically press the "lock" button twice and the truck will start. Worked great until today. Pressing the button still causes the parking lights to "light" and horn to sound, but the truck would not start. It does not even begin the start sequence. So it appears the truck IS getting the signal, but is not doing anything with it. Anyone have any ideas?

My remote start has an on/off switch in the cab. It’s used to shut down the remote start when you’re working on the truck so it does not start inadvertently. Unfortunately they put the on/off switch on the kick panel just to the side of my brake/gas pedals. I often kick it by accident and shut it off. Look for something simple like this...

@ Bluestreak9999 - welcome to the site. Sorry I dont know much about the OEM remote starters though. It could be something as simple as a bad hood pin switch or maybe the module itself.

Sorry to tell you but it's not a OEM remote start. The mopar one has it's own remote. What you have is most definitely aftermarket.

Smile Got it!

HouseApe you are correct. It is an aftermarket remote starter that uses the door remote for the starting sequence. The door remote lost its "program" for starting the truck, even though it would lock/unlock the doors just fine. Once I figured it out, I reprogrammed the remote. Works find now!
