Default Avg. MPG Computer

I have an 06, 1500, sport, QC. I noticed on my friends 2003 dodge ram 1500 daytona's MPG Computer will go up and down as soon as he resets his MPG button. Example if he reset its and lets off the gas the computer will go up to 22 MPG, and then when he gets on the gas the computer will go down to 12 or whatever. If I reset the button then the MPG may go up or down 0.1 MPGs. After 2 miles or so it will show a bigger difference. Is this in the newer models or is my MPG calculator not working?

OHD calculator does long term averages, not on-the-fly MPG

If you reset it-- it starts the averages over-- so you will see it move a lot when you first reset it... after a while though-- it will settle down as the time/mpg average evens out.

Which mode are you looking at, Avg or Econ? One is long term other is 'real time' in my truck

I have the same truck as you (sport) as well and when I reset mine, its usually goes to like 22 then settles down as I drive
