gas gauge

Default gas gauge

Gas gauge works and then doesn't.Any ideas?

your sending unit maybe going bad it happened to my buddie in his ford

And it could be something as simple as a bad or loose connection somewhere. What year is the truck? Ive got a good and complete fuel pump out in the shop.

2005 2500 it screwed up one day a few times and has not done it since. I'm sure it will again but should wait til fuel pump goes totally at the cost to replace. It's all one unit i think. Drop tank ect. to get at it right?

Yeah, drop the tank, disconnect the fuel lines, disconnect the 4 pin electrical harness, pop off the locking ring on top and lift the pump straight up and out. Not hard at all. Again, Ive got a spare pump if you ever device you need one.

I would let it go for $75 shipped. Ive priced them new at $225

mine does the same thing i can turn on the truck and it will read E then if i turn it off then back on it works fine only happens every now and then

My 02 does this as well, usually when I'm around half a tank. My mechanic friend says sending unit, but I consider it kind-of harmless, haven't bothered with trying to fix as yet.
