Truck stalling when cold
Very cold here -30c and i start the truck and let it warm up 15 min or so everything seems fine but when i put in drive/or reverse the rpms go up and down like crazy. I stay there with the brake on for 15 20 seconds and at least half the time when i let the brake go she stalls. Any ideas? Only happens if shes left for a long period of time, like overnight. after couple mins of driving everything is fine again
It could just be moisture built up in the pvc tubing and t/b.
It frosts up overnight while sitting and when you run it for 15minutes in that cold of temps, the truck is just breaking into it's warm temps and thawing out the frost lining on the inside of the tubing.
After you drive it a few miles is everything golden?
I know there have been several issue's regarding T/B replacements for guys that experience the frigid cold. -86*f is pretty friggin cold. Is that the actual temp or wind temp? Wind temp doesn't effect anything, only actual temp does.

mine did that too the other day when it was -13F here. died on me once, fired it back up, gave her some throttle and once it started drivin it was fine. hasn't done it since. i just think these trucks (much like me) really don't like it when it gets really cold and u get stuck out in it for a long time. lol
Sounds very similar to a problem that I'm having with my truck. Since the problem is only evident on a cold engine, I'm willing to bet it may be related to the EGR valve (being stuck open during warm-up). I was thinking of heading out to the parts store to get a new EGR valve myself, but it's a real hassle to replace as it's located at the back of the engine (driver's side).
If you have not cleaned your throttle body lately your problem may be related to a dirty throttle body. Try cleaning your TB first (using carb cleaner) as it's way cheaper than the EGR valve.
