Default 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad 4x4

I have the Dodge 1500 Quad 4x4 with the 4.7 engine. I noticed that there is engine oil dripping where the tranny and engine are bolted together. I'm thinking the rear main seal might have a leak. What else can be there to leak where the tranny is bolted to the engine?

What would it take to replace the rear main seal if that is the problem? Can it be done with just dropping the pan or does the tranny and transfer case have to be removed?

The leak is minor small but I do not want is leaking over time on the driveway.
Truck has 64k miles and I think plowing with the truck this winter might of caused this. Never leaked before this snow season and this is my 3rd year of plowing. Question would plowing cause this to leak.

thanks

Most likely it is the engine rear main. It could be the trans front seal but I doubt it.

As for changing the seal, its not hard but requires both time, tools and skill like everything else.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know how much a dealer should charge for this or a good Truck place that does engine work?

thanks

You can buy the part online fairly easily and cheap. As for how much a shop charges or where is a good one, IDK where you are located and secondly, I have no idea what a shop would charge. I do all my own work
