Default Truck turned off on it's own Yesterday!

So yesterday I was on my way in the city for a birthday thing and had just got off the highway and started to slow down and my truck just turned off. It didn't sputter or anything - I honestly thought my powersteering went at first it was such a smooth shut-down. The lights and radio were still on and running without a flicker. I had coasted to the side of the road, put it on park and it started right back up. Never had a problem like this before and it drove home perfectly fine. (about an hour drive each way)

And ideas what it could be? Need more detail about anything?

It's an 07 4.7l SLT w/ about 55,000 miles

Thanks in advance for your input.

Had the same thing happen to my 04. a month or so later the battery went so i could only assume it was a warning that the battery was going but that was just my experience.

Mine did the same thing last week. I was coming up to a stop sign, proberly doing 25mph and out of no where the steering got hard. Radio and lights were also still running. I threw it in neutral and it started right back up. I hope that's the only time it will do it because it would suck if it happened in a busy intersection.

Thanks for the replies guys! At least I know I'm not the only one that's experienced this issue.

MLeach/Kscha41, did you ever have the same problem again?

Brettj, is that a common issue with these? What makes you think that?

***** McNasty, wouldn't that throw a CEL?

I wouldnt worry about it as long as it is not on-going or consistent.

Hey Guys-

I am new on here and wanted to add my recent experience. My truck is a 2007 Ram Quad 1500, SLT/ThunderRoad package, 5.7 Hemi, 24K miles. About a month ago my truck did the same thing, shut down as I slowed to turn on to the expressway. I put it in park and it fired up with no problem. Then a week ago the engine light came on for code "P1404" which is EGR valve related. My truck was repaired today and the mechanic replaced the EGR valve. I hope the two problems were related and this is the end of it. Also, for what it is worth, the power steering cooler was replaced today as well as it was corroded and leaking.

Hope this helps someone-
