Default How many plugs do I have to change?

I have an 04 1500, 4.7L

I've seen it both reported as 8 plugs and 16 plugs on different sites. Can someone give me a definite answer please?

Also, does the truck have spark plug wires? Once again I've seen it reported as yes and no

No 4.7 (8 or 16 plug versions) has plug wires. They are coil on plug.

8 plugs only. No plug wires only individual coils with each plug that do not have to be changed. Make sure when you pull the coils off, that you blow out the holes before taking the plugs out. Still can have crud in the holes even though the coils may look like they seal off the plug hole.

The answer you were given above by Kay9 is correct in that your 04 4.7L has 8 plugs only. I think what you are doing is confusing comments made about 08+ 4.7L's and the 07 and prior 4.7L's. In 2008 the 4.7L was redesigned and it now uses 16 plugs like the HEMI. So, if you are seeing some say 8 and some say 16 chances are it is because of the year of the engine being discussed. In the future when researching 4.7L info look closer to make sure the discussion is relevant to your year. If someone is telling you that your 04 4.7L takes 16 plugs they don't know what they are talking about.
