Default Tighten up cup holder arm? (pic included)

I've got an 07 Ram 1500 and for some reason the cup holder arm on the driver's side is loose now. So loose in fact it won't even hold a bottle of water in place... It still moves in and out as it should but not nice and firm like the passenger side does...

Any ideas on how to tighten it up a bit??

I've never seen a way to get to the i think screw that holds the things, and I've taken the cupholder off a few times.

Can you see anything by taking the ash tray out and looking inside?

its got like a metal clip on the backside that pinches a plastic lip to create the friction. you can probably take it apart and tighten that clip up a bit if nothing is broken on the inside

Thanks for the input. I'll just take it apart and if I break it, then I guess I'll just have to get a new one

I removed mine. Didn't think it was worth the 3 lbs of weight. Got some cheap black plastic ones to hang instead that only weigh a couple ounces... I'd offer it to you, but my interior color is not grey, it is khaki brown.

Default Removal

I have the exact opposite problem with mine. It seems as if the gears are totally locked up on my drivers side holder.

Can someone give me a hint how to remove and/or break in to this guy? No bolts under the plastic drop-in liners like in the floor mounted models.

Thanks!
