Default Bumper support?

Hey guys,
Yesterday I went to U-Haul to get a trailor hitch installed. After a while the guy said to me that I have an oversized "bumper support" (the metal bar behind the bumper) and there was no way to get it installed. Id have to go to a junk yard and get a regular sized support. He said he hasent seen a lot like mine but it was a factory option. Do you know what hes talking about? Is it called a bumper support and if it is I cant find one ANYWHERE. Any ideas?
Thanks yall

IDk but he sounds FoS to me and likely doesnt have what you need anyway. However, with that being said, i would simply go to a local junkyard and get a hitch off another Ram or look on CL for maybe one or a truck getting parted out. Where in GA are you at?

There is a guy in McDonough (sp?) that usually is parting out trucks

I seen one or two 05 and 06 Ram trucks on CL earlier today getting parted out.

There are TWO receiver hitches for '03 Ram 1500s, one for trucks built before 11/02 and one for trucks built on & after 11/02.
There were no "factory option" bumper mounts, just simply a changover from one type to another in mid model.
Either he tried to put the old style on your new style or vise versa. Odds are he got one for an '03-'08 and your truck was built prior to 11/02 and therefore would use the earlier ('02 model) type.

Check you door panel and order the appropriate kit. If your truck was built before 11/02 you would use the same kit that the '02 Rams used which is Mopar part #82207781. For trucks built during 11/02 and after then it's Mopar part #82211226AB.

If you are going 3rd party, then get a hitch for an '02 Ram 1500 if yours was built before 11/02 and for an '04+ if yours was built after and you can't go wrong.

Don't pay someone to put a receiver hitch on your truck, order you one and install it yourself. What the hell they putting in the kool-aide up there in north Georgia that a good old boy can't put a lousy bolt on part on his truck???

Front bumper brackets were different too. If you will recall, when Pyro bought your grill guard I had to drill his frame on his '02 to make the bolt holes line up and be able to use your old mounting hardware...

Yeah I remember you guys were working on it but IDK you had to mod the bumper or frame holes.
