Default A/C Not that cold

I know its winter but figured id see if anyone else notices this. i have a 2008 QCSB 5.7 Hemi 1500 bighorn in the summer times the AC gets cold but not THAT COLD" its slightly cooler when im driving which i believe is the increased airflow through the condenser.

Anyway though why isnt it really that cold, its been like that from day one and i got the truck with 11k in the odometer. seems like other vehicles have colder AC units. This also have nothing to do with the truck being a Quad cab cus the blower blows more than enough air it just seems like the air isnt as cool as it should be

You should stick a meat thermometer in the vent and set the blower to medium and see what temp you really get. From there you can decide if you really want it colder. You may just need to add some freon. Also, putting a valve on the heater core hose (either one) to stop hot water from going to the core all the time will help.

Lost of freon is more than likely your culprit. Freon also helps lubricate the compressor so get that puppy charged up asap and have them check for leaks! also, I believe our dodges use an orifice tube in the AC line... it should frost over after a/c has been running for a while.

Thermo to the A/c Vent isn't a bad idea either...should be blowing out in the low 40 range.

Ac condensor may also be clogged slightly?

a product called Red Tek is the best aftermarket stuff to fill your ac up with. It has a small amount of propane in it with the freon and will make the ac colder. I've seen a kit with 2 1lb bottles and the guage and hose to do it yourself for about 40 bucks.

Even when the air con is working properly, it sucks. The system in the Ram is pathetic compared to any of my other cars.

Redid my whole system and it blows 41 and ices the windows. If has completely lost its charge it needs to HAS to have a vacuum pulled on it and a leak down test. If its cold out then the pressure wont be high enough and it will drop below 30 psi and the pressure switch will kick the compressor out.

Not to nick pick but freon is R12. R134a is Suva.
