Default Need help with this one

Hopefully im posting in the right area. Anyways i was on night shift the other day came home my 03 ram 1500 was fine. the next day i took it out around 1 some seriouse ice on the roads so i put it in 4x4 going up one of the hills in town. i heard a harsh grinding noise. so i put it back in 2wd. Now when i put the truck in gear in 2wd it vibrates and makes grinding noises. When i put it in 4x4 its smooth and no sound. If i step on it in 4x4 the front tires will spin and grind really bad (seems like its not in gear all the way) I noticed that i can turn by hand my front driveshaft when in 2wd. Its solid in 4x4. Also i just took the truck over to a buddies he took a look at it. he checked the cv joints and said that the whole inner part of my cv joint can move alot and that didnt seem right. any help on this would be greatly aprectiated Thanks.

aside from possibly having worn CV joints, your 4x4 may not be totally disengaging. Try putting the truck in reverse with it switched to 2 wheel drive and drive down the block backwards, this sometimes will disengage it. if that don't work crawl under your truck and remove the actuator that engages the 4x4. see if it is functioning properly and smoothly.
