ok here is the problame. its a 2003 4.7 dodge truck.. like 2 weeks ago the truck started like cutting out while driving.. at idle also.. their is no codes.. now the promblame will go away if i disconect the cam sensor.. but then if u shut it off u cant start it no more.. so i thought it was the cam sensor and bought a new one.. still did it... i put a test light on the ignition coil and every time it cutts out the light stops blinking ... i took of the valve cover to see if maybe the target wheel was damaged. but it looks fine to me.. i have check continuity from the sensor to pcm every thing seems fine . but i have that miss cut out .. it wierd.. i start the truck and it start missing i unplug the cam sensor and i goes away.. plug it back in and it starts missing again .. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS ONE.. IT DRIVING ME NUT

any ticking noises coming from the front of the motor? did you check your timing chain slack? what about pending codes? did you look at live data to determine anything? the light going out means its losing signal some where between a cam sensor or a crank position sensor.

yes checked live data.. no freeze frame data... its wierd that i disconect the sensor and it dont give me a code for it.. any other sensor i disconect right away it turns on the mil light for me.. checked the lines to the pcm checked out ok.. one thing i did notice if i put the test light to one of the coils ground its blinks like a noid light but when it missed the test light totaly cut out.. but if put it to the injector harness when it misses the light keeps going. im assuming thats why the poping in the exhuast.. the injector sprays the gas but no spark to ignite it.. but all i got to do is unplug the cam sensor and walla everything is fine.. but then again if i turn it off i cant start it unless i get down and plug it back in...COULD IT BE THE COMPUTER SOME HOW NOT INTERPRETING THE CAM SIGNAL CORRECTLY. LIKE IT SEES IT BUT IT DONT KNOW HOW TO INTERPRET IT.

O yea and i checked the target wheel.. I just put the timming kit on 5 months ago ... But took off valve covers to make sure they didnt jump a tooth .... But if that was the case it would do it with the sensor plugged or unplugged. I would think..

so no light when you unplug the cam sensor, but it runs okay with it unplugged. Sounds like its going into limp mode. Truck isnt programmed or chipped is it? did you check the crankshaft position sensor? they work together. Does is happen under load or at a normal cruise?

wait scratch the under load or normal cruise cuz you sed it missed while having a test light attached, and unless you can do crazy trapeze acts while driving and not crash i dont think you could notice if the test light registering correctly hahaha

yes i actually replaced bothe sensors cam and crank and nothing .. i used the oscilloscope from and snap on modis scanner to view both sensors.. and while driving u could see the crank sensor would loose signal when it missed cam sensor never lost signal.. but with the cam unplugged it was perfectly fine.. and it does it at idle reved.. load no load dont matter how with the cam sensor pluged in it will mis with out it runs fine.. im guessing computer after aall the test done.. thanks to everyone trying to help with this.
