Default Wrong VIN?

This may be a new problem. Has anyuone ever heard of the incorrect VIN number on a Dodge Ram? I have a 2007 4X2 1500ST regular cab. However, the VIN on the truck and on file at Dodge is a quad cab. I have been told there are legal issues involved here. Any comments?

This happened to my brother in law with his 2009 Avenger R/T. He went to go take it in for a trade and the VIN said it wasn't an R/T, I have no idea what happened afterwords but Dodge obviously doesn't know how to tag their vehicles. I see a lawsuit in the future.

Not sure about now, since Chrysler is owned by Fiat, but prior to that, you could request the build sheet for your truck, (or any Mopar) from Chrysler for free. Having that build sheet, with the VIN on it, plus the assembled options from the factory, would certainly clear that up.

It's not that the VIN is wrong, but the VIN plate assigned to the vehicle, doesn;t match the specs built on the truck, and likely due to a cross-over at the factory, between production runs on different trucks.

i have heard of stuff like this but never seen it. regular cab vehicle with cab and half or quad cab owner ships. it almost makes you wonder how they leave the dealership with that type of mistake?

A freind of mine had a somewhat related incident with an 88 W150. He bought it, insured it, everything was fine. He took it off of his insurance for a while, like a few months is all (can't remember why) But then put it back on and the insurance company couldn't find the info, which is weird, cuz my insurance company still has info from cars that I haven't had insured in 10 years...Anyway, they couldn't find it, so they needed the VIN, he gave it to them and it wouldn't register, finally after about 20 min they got something to pop up and it was calling it a Ramcharger. Can't figure out why cuz everything was right the first time it was insured

when i was getting insurance quotes for my 81 i don't think there was a single insurance company that could find a regular cab long box truck in there computer. even when i gave them my vin all that would show up is club cab long box. it probably has to be an error with the stupid computers. people rely to much on computers but they are only as good as the people entering in the info and everyone makes mistakes.
