Default Pcm???

OK guys I'm new here so if I leave anything out please just ask and I'll try to answer the questions. MY 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L with automatic transmission is stuck in, what I believe is third gear. I had no previous warning, I got in my truck cranked it up stepped on the gas and I got lots of RPM's and very little movement for the first few seconds. My check engine light cam on and I put my trusty code reader on it and is gave me codes P0700 and P0750 and I get a lot of monitor indications flashing as well. P0700 is a request to turn on the check engine light and P0750 is a fault code for the LR Solenoid ( Shift Solenoid A ). This is the first trouble I've had with this truck I bought it new and it has almost 87,000 miles on it. OK, so I purchased a subscription to alldatadiy.com, which is very informative by the way for 26.99/yr. I proceeded to pull the transmission pan to check the solenoids and since the recommended fluid and filter change is 100,000 miles I figured why not. Turns out all solenoids check fine electrically, and since P0750 is strictly an electrical fault that is all I checked was electrical integrity I also cleaned and wiped down the entire valve body. I put all of that back together and continue to research and troubleshoot. I started checking wiring and connectors and power feeds and grounds.... all of which seem to be in place and in working order by all of the prints and diagrams I've looked at. I replaced the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) because I slightly suspected it for a moment and the junk yard module was cheap. Still no fix.... I keep reading that the PCM switches the grounds on the solenoids so I figure what the hell and I ground one side of the LR solenoid and voila, I have torque again just like low gear should... but its momentary and reverts right back to its sluggish ways shortly after take off, once the truck sits awhile it acts OK again for a few moments. I have decided that the PCM is bad, I can't think of anything else to check but I hate to spend the money on a PCM and be wrong but at the same time the stealer wants $100 buck to check it out for me and can't even do that until Thursday or Friday. I can get a remand PCM for 250 and take my chances.... I know I wrote alot but ANY insight or opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mike.

Welcome to the site. Thats not PCM related so much as it is TCM related (located in the PCM though) and the trans is in "limp mode" to protect itself from future damage. Usually a dealer with the StarScan tool has to reset the PCM. The biggest question is why did it go into limp mode. It sounds like you have done your reading and research so that good. I was going to suggest a re-man PCM but you already have looked into that I see. Almost every thread that has p0700 has had something fail in the trans and replaced the parts or rebuilt/replaced the trans

Just replaced my trans.. Was having the same p0700 code and the trans shifting in to limp mode even with a completely different trans. It is still doing the same thing was told it might be the governer pressure sensor? But before I put more money in to this any ideas what else I might look at?

Default Having same problem!

Just wondering if you ever figured out what was wrong? I've been through 3 trannys, new computer new wiring harness new tranny cooler new speed limit sensor and I've had all o2 sensors cheesed out and all grounds for the wiring harness and still my multiple mechanics are stumped. The pressure in my tranny will be find after a relearn and or if the main connector is unified from the tranny. Other times the pressure is as low as 40psi to 160psi... Anythng helps...

Actually we aren't currently. Hooked up a pressure gauge to the tranny since the computer was showing a fluctuation in pressure and it was correct. Codes don't pop up until the tranny hits limp mode but thats a guessing game on when it will happy. thoughts?
