Not sure I follow you, are you saying it can pull an addition 18k lbs?

I find it hard to believe this truck has a overall limit of 18k, I see plenty of dodge 4wd 3500's pulling 3 and 4 cars on the interstate, (transport services)

I really need to be sure of this, and the manual doesn't give a real answer, sends you to dodge which no longer has the '06 information on the web site, I got the build sheet on the truck and it does not go into weight details either

thanks
Tom

it depends on your towing setup.. a regular class 5 without weight ditrubution is 12K goose neck is 18k and 5th wheel is 21K i think thats the max for a 1ton..payload is somewhere around 3k pounds...the 18k tag you got in the mail might be what its registered for..you can register for the vehicle weight (cheaper but cant tow anything by law) or register it for what you tow mostly...or max it out at 21K just in case...expensive!

they didn't ask me about that when I registered it at the tag office, heck they didn't say a thing about the tag having a weight limit on it, I'll go up there this morning and see what gives, thing is I can't find any paper work that dodge says what it is rated atf, the manual give basic info then says to go to their web site, and the web site only gives new vehicle weight

It also depends on your body type (reg, quad, mega)

thanks for that link,

now I'm told with this truck I need to have a med exam cert, the only reference I can find if it is a commercial truck, this is not business truck, my personal truck no one else I called has heard of this

Yes CTD, and I did get some better details on the tags here in GA,

you do not have to have a rated weight tag if you are under 14k lbs even if you have a dually, then the next tag is good for 14k-18000 lbs (the tag they sent me) my truck is rated at I think 23k gross so if I am going to have a gross weight over 18k lbs I need the next tag, I'm going to check on the DL to be sure that I do not need a CDL or med cert for private non business use before I get that correct tag, not that I will pull the gross of 23k lbs, but I'm the guy that if I'm 100 lkbs over the 18k my tags states, they will send to prison for the rest of my life <grin>
