Question 2004 Ram 1500 torsion key leveling system..bad or good?

I'm a proud owner of a 2004 single cab short bed Ram. It has 148k miles on it with a 4.7. I want the front to sit level with the rear however i've heard alot of bad things pertaining to the front end. Such as eating through ball joints left and right. Is this true?

Any IFS truck, be it Ram, GM, Furd or any other doesn't particularly like raising the geometry, greater rolling resistance, more weight or an increase in the angle of the CV axles. That said, most can use a mild level in the front with no real problems.

I'm assuming this is a 4x4 we are talking about, since 4x2s don't have torsion bars?

correct its a 4x4. My brother had a ford ranger he tried cranking up the torsion keys on that and it ate his front end alive. he didnt use a true leveling kit though im not sure if that had an effect, i was to young to remember, and hes not that bright.

Don't crank the front end up more than 2" and you'll be alright. Buy shocks that are 2" longer to help the ride quality. Hammer has a DIY on this in the FAQ section

Crank the screws, if it doesn't get it level enough for you, then you can pop in some keys for $100 off ebay
