Peragon bed cover install report and pic...

Your experience with their powder-coating is NOT encouraging. A decent paint-job should last decades if cared for. The whole point of powder-coating is its toughness. I must say, that I wondered when reading the instructions and it said NOT to wax it and to wash with mild-soap (or some such) and water. I have to e-mail and ask them how they suggest removing things like tree sap. It seems one might question what exactly they are using for their coating.
Oh yeah, as I recall the current warranty on the coating is 5 years, but without looking I cannot be totally sure. Have you talked with Peragon about your cover?
Later.

Your cover looks like it was treated to some clearcoat or something. Mine was never that glossy. The worst thing about this is that I'll have to remove the entire cover to have it refinished and replace all the seals. It's not gotten down to bare metal yet, but eventually it will come through.

It sounds like they have changed the finish since you got yours (mine is a nice semi-gloss). I'm sure yours wasn't the only one with a problem. However, the cover would look good painted to match the truck. If the finish were just coming off the rolling plates one could paint only those to match and not remove/replace everything. Your finish must be coming off the rails, too?
Oh, I looked it up. You are correct; it is a one year warranty. I've read so many sets of instructions and warrantys in deciding what to get, I just forgot which was which. My "duh." Btw, it says in bold not to wax nor expose to "...harsh chemicals such as gasoline...".

Apparently the Peragon people aren't going to reply either via email or coming here to post a response. This only tells me that your claims are all true. It also tells me I'm going to be ordering a Pace Edwards roll-top for my new Ram. Thanks for the insight as I was SO close in just ordering a Peragon.
Good luck with the roll top.
Ultimately it was going to be matched anyway. I'll just have to get on it sooner. That's life. Now if the thing didn't function properly, then I'd have some issues.

I originally chose the cover because of the website, boy was I wrong. I keep a carpet in the back of my truck if Im hauling luggage or anythig I dont want to get too dirty. Unfortunatley this top leaks so bad that I have to hang the mat to dry every time it rains. After the original install and tweeking and adjusting the top for 4 hours you still need to be very careful how you open it so it doesnt bind on you. I have a 6"lift with 37" tires on my one ton, so I have to crawl up on my tires and push just right on the (stubborn)cover to start it opening. ( not very convienient). I wouldnt mind if it only took up six inches as they claim, but the truth is you need about 12" clear on the front of your box to open it. Again not very convenient to open when something slides to the front and the only way to move it is to crawl on your belly under the cover to reach the obstruction. If you are planning on hauling lumber or something else long, there is an aluminum cross brace that is required to stay in your truck box that is always in the way of sliding something to the front of your box. This brace sits approx 4" above the floor of your truck bed and about 10" from the front, right in the way. Im just waiting for the wheels, which are riveted in place, to break off so I can throw this thing in the trash. I would run it over and ship it back to them if shipping wasnt so expensive. I wish I would have read the forum before spending the cash.
